Credit card debt sucks!

Getting Rid Of Credit Card Debt

When it comes to credit card debt, it is easy to accrue quickly, but extremely difficult to get rid off. Getting rid of credit card debt is something that we all should be focusing on now, since the job markets and economy are looking so dire.

The average family owes more in credit card payments each month than they do in monthly mortgage payments, and that is just barely covering the minimum payments due on each card!

If you are in that situation, you should know that all it would take to lead you into financial ruin would be one more step into the debt hole. It is time to take action now, to get rid of credit card debt, and learn how to live solely off of your income with out getting to to any more debt!

The first step is pretty obvious:

1. Stop using all credit cards right now

The more you use your cards, the higher your balances go, and the deeper in trouble you get. Even if you have to take on a second job, or cutback on spending, you really need to make the decision to live off of your income, rather than the plastic.

If you can’t afford to pay for it with cash, then don’t buy it! If you are someone who can’t resist temptation, you should cut up all of your cards, or at least leave them at home, in a hard to get to place, rather than in your wallet.

2. Take the time to tally up all of your monthly debts; just the minimum payments that come due each month, and weigh that against your current household bring home pay.

3.Work it out

Figure out how much you spend each month on groceries, gas, extraneous charges, and add that to your monthly total.

Keep a close eye on any extra spending you do throughout the month, and determine if any cutbacks could be made, such as changing a cell phone plan to one with a lower rate, changing to a less expensive TV package, dropping your landline phone, etc.

Any changes that you can make, will give you more money to add to your budget for getting rid of debt.

If you find, even after making cuts to your expenditures, that you have little money left to devote to your debt, then you will need to look for alternative ways of creating funds at the same time make surte that any money you save goes into the reduction of debt! not disappears into an empty hole……..

4. Get rid of what you dont need…….

Consider selling assets you own, having a yard sale, and possibly even finding a part time job, just until you can get some of those high interest cards paid down.

If you start with the card with the highest rate, pay it off, and keep going down the list, you will free up more and more money each month, by eliminating monthly payments.

When you elimante one card, transfer the payments to the next and even consider consolidating BUT make sure you save money doing it and that any and all extra funds go directly to the card. Dont even consider spending on buying new items your dont need.

Lets face it Credit card debt   SUCKS and it strangles your cash flow. Getting rid of it needs to take a consistent and ongoing effort. You will need focus and develop strong will to resist it happening again, and card the Cards up when you are done.  Call it a hard lesson………
