The Most Important Personal Principle For Biblical
I want to share with you something that really would have helped me
earlier — had I just known.
If you learn and use this principle, you, your family and your job
satisfaction, your relationship with God, will all go up through
the roof.
Guaranteed!
For me, well, it was easy for me to START to play high school
sports… athletics just came easy. I was a quick starter. But I
never really excelled.
It was the same with college (sports and studies).
It was the same with my Air Force Career.
It was the same with my wife and children.
For a long time it was the same in my ministry.
For sure it was the same with my relationship with God.
All of these were just "OK" at best, but I never excelled.
I’ve just recently learned one INSIGHT, one HABIT that’s allowing
me to finally begin to excel. I’ve a long way to go but at last I’m
finally on my way.
I KNOW you will benefit from this. So here it is.
I’m learning to become a STUDENT of my God, a STUDENT of my wife, a
STUDENT of my children, a STUDENT of my job, and a STUDENT of our
ministry.
For example–our ministry. I’m reading (but not simply reading,
I’m STUDYING) about how God has blessed other ministries. I’m
studying their leaders. I’m studying their lifestyles and their
marketing. I’m buying their products and studying their ministry models.
I’m studying how they helped their people.
Honestly, if you want to take the "shortcut route" (if there really
is one) to becoming a more "successful" child of God, spouse,
father, employee, and ministry worker, you will need to become more
PERCEPTIVE and AWARE. You need to BECOME A STUDENT.
You’d be amazed at how much you can learn by studying the successes
of others. It takes time. It may take some money. It will take a commitment
on your part.
But watch your motivation. If you want to "excel" for any other
reason than to please God, you will fall short. It will become
just too hard and you’ll simply walk away.
Look at excelling as an element of stewardship (managing what God
has given you). It’s what God wants of you and me, no, it’s what
God expects of us. For example, in order to become a better "money manager," you need
to become a better STUDENT of what God has to say about money.
Assuming the right motivation, you first must understand how God
defines "wealth".
When you finally get a hold of this definition, you’ll find that
you’ll begin to master the first of two critical biblical financial
principles that should be the basis of every financial decision you
will ever make.
Learn. Take Action. Learn from your mistakes. Never give up.
BECOME A STUDENT. This is serious stuff! It will make all the difference in your performance – in EVERY area of your life.
